The latest Peakdesign family member: The ProPad

How to improve good things ? Well, by making them even better. I am a Capture Clip user since the very beginning. While the clip itself works like a charm, the only little problem I had, was carrying a Pro-DSLR with a let’s say 2.8/70-200 lens on my belt. Different kinds of self-made pads improved the situation more or less (and they all looked really ugly). As usual the folks at peakdesign listened and came up with the ProPad.

Even with its initial type of use in mind, I wanted to see how it changes/improves the handling and carrying of my actual work-horse camera, the FUJIFILM X-Pro1.

The Capture Clip – here the version 2 is used – can be attached to the ProPad in three mounting positions. This allows very easy mounting and dismounting of the camera, customized to your personal preference. Please check out the following link for more info.

Especially during my workshops, where I am standing, walking and sitting, the camera is fixed to my body in a way that allows all movements without the camera disturbing you in your mobility. The ergonomics is simply stunning. Getting the camera out and ready for shooting as well as clicking it back into parking position works like a charm and without even looking down at what you are doing.

It’s a highly recommended add-on! Using the coupon code “fauland” you can now order the ProPad with a 10% discount here: Buy ProPad. (This coupon code can be used for any purchase in the peakdesign online-store).

I am sure, you will love it …

  1. Great review! I have and love the capture clip v1, and have been considering this accessory. I see you are using an L-bracket on your X-Pro1. Does an L-bracket lock in to the capture clip the same way the smaller plates do?

    1. Dear Colin,

I am using the iShoot L-Bracket which does not directly lock into the Capture Clip. I use the Arca-Swiss and Arca+Manfrotto Capture plates with the iShoot. Works like a charm …

      Cheers,

      Peter

      1. Hi Doug,

This was indeed a bit tricky. But as in your case – after having watched the video it became clear. Use the coupon-code, like this your wife will hate you a bit less. 🙂
